Project Milestones 

Garrison Crossing creates a vital connection between Trinity Bellwoods Park in the north and the Fort York grounds in the south and fosters stronger community networks in and around the City, Fort York and waterfront. Explore Our Project Timeline

 

  • Fall 2019: Garrison Crossing open to the public 
  • Summer 2019: Completion of the signage, street furniture (benches, etc.) and landscaping 
  • Summer 2019: Completion of the multi-use trail in Ordnance Park, including lighting of all trails and both bridges
  • Summer 2019: Completion of the north and south bridges including barriers, handrails, and bike rails
  • Spring 2019: Installation of the stainless steel cladding on the ramp from Garrison Common to the bridge. Stairs from the south bridge to be completed.
  • Spring 2019: Completion of the site work in Garrison Common to include additional multi-use trails from the Garrison Crossing Bridge to Bathurst Street
  • Spring 2019: Construction of the Pedestrian Cross-Over on Wellington Street to connect South Stanley Park and the South Stanley Park Extension
  • Spring 2019: Completion of the South Stanley Park Extension including grading, lighting, topsoil, landscaping, and the multi-use trail (to be opened to the public in late summer 2019)

  • Winter 2018: Completion of the South Stanley Park Extension and Garrison Crossing site works

  • Fall 2018: Deliver and Install South Bridge on Site 
  • Summer 2018: Deliver and Install North Bridge on Site
  • Spring 2017 – Spring 2018: Off-site Fabrication of the Bridges
  • Spring 2017: Commence Bridge Abutments
  • Fall 2016: Construction Start
  • Fall 2015 – Fall 2016: Design Development
  • November 24, 2015: The Project Team for the New Garrison Crossing
  • June 2015: Hosted Community Information Meeting #2
  • January 23, 2015: Shortlisted Bidders Announced
  • January 8, 2015: Hosted our First Community Meeting
  • December 22, 2014: EA Addendum Finalized by City
  • December 19, 2014: Shortlisted Bidders Finalized
  • November 17, 2014: Request for Supplier Qualifications Closed
  • October 14, 2014: Request for Supplier Qualifications Issued (RFSQ)
